The Old English Elite chess pieces have, by popular demand, been released in limited numbers in larger sizes than the original editions. Last year we released the 3.5 inch set in ebony and sandalwood and through the strength and elegance of the design this became our most popular set of luxury chessmen. The design transposes perfectly to the larger scale and every last detail has been preserved in the new larger versions. The design is classic Staunton with the most amazing proportions and curves, the elegance of the set is superb. Each set comes numbered with a certificate to support it's unique edition number. New Chess Sets
A selection of new chess sets are being made available at Regency Chess this month. Some new luxury chess sets as well as more moderately priced sets are being added. We will soon be welcoming four inch versions of the legendary old English Elite series chessmen. The 3.5 inch versions have proved extremely popular and requests have been coming in for a larger version of this fine chess set. Some ornate Staunton designs have also been added such as the Ambassador series, this set combines classic Staunton design with some understated unique hall marks of it's own. We also welcome our first bridled knight set of premium luxury chessmen, The Monarch Series in ebony with a 4.4 inch King. A handful of other new designs will be hitting our product pages in coming weeks all in good time for Christmas!

We are very pleased to announce a new partnership with Rechapados Ferrer, Spain's premier producer of chess boards. We have introduced three styles of superb quality veneer chess boards from his range and plan to add more styles in coming weeks and months.
These are some of the nicest chess boards we have seen so far, each one has been produced to exacting standards and displays a flawless finish. The new boards combine luxury hardwoods with modern manufacturing techniques to produce beautiful chess boards that won't break the bank. The Patrick Moore Chess set
The Regency Chess Company is thrilled to have been involved in the supplying of a custom chess set to Sir Patrick Moore. The set was presented by King Edward School of Bath who initiated the project after they spoke to Patrick to arrange a visit.
Patrick told the school that he loved to play chess but had trouble with his arthritis which resulted in him knocking the pieces over. He wanted a large pegged set, something that's not commercially available.

The Oxford Series Staunton Chessmen
The Oxford series Staunton chess pieces are a new addition to The Regency Chess Company range and currently represent superb value for money, in fact the best value we have ever seen on a set of chessmen.
Styled in the classic Staunton design with well proportioned curves and lovely shanks. The Knight has an immense amount of detail for a chess set of this price, in fact the whole set is turned and polished to a standard usually only seen on much more expensive chess sets. Available in both Sheesham wood and ebonised boxwood with a 3.5 inch king, an ideal size for a 20 inch chess board.

What makes this set unique is that it is made entirely from natural wood & materials. No varnishes or lacquer have been applied to the wood what so ever. The end of 2008 saw the release of the white wood travel chess sets in the UK. The Regency Chess Company is pleased to be the sole importers of these excellent chess sets. Collaboration between Regency and an emerging chess workshop in India has resulted in a fantastic range of chess sets that defy the cost to quality ratio. The range starts at just £14.99 for a seven inch set that despite it's modest price point has still been crafted with great care and attention. All the white wood sets are 100% solid wood with no composites or MDF used in the construction. A cocktail of woods including Sheesham, Maple, Boxwood and Whitewood has been used and classic Staunton chess men are featured throughout.
Lack of wastage equals better value, thats one of the concepts behind the development of these sets. By manufacturing the sets in 7, 10, 12 and 14 inches the chess workshop can keep waste and off cuts to an absolute minimum. This keeps the price low, makes good ecological sense and results in a wide choice of sizes for our customers to choose from. During the Christmas shopping season of 2008 these sets were extremely popular and the feedback received from customers has been very very encouraging.
