The most striking thing about this set is the size. At just seven inches across it's a very small board with miniature pieces. What's amazing however is the attention to detail and superb quality of the set. All made from solid wood, no MDF or fibre board is used in any part of the construction. Each square on the board is a separate cutting of wood, which have each been inlaid perfectly.
The solid wooden pieces have been beautifully carved in the classic Staunton style and hold an amazing amount of detail for their size. The chess pieces have magnetic bases and stick to the board which has metal hidden within it to allow the magnets to stick. A neat and concealed way of giving the appearance of magnetic wooded pieces and board.

I was disappointed with the size because it was to small for serious chess gaming, but for playing on a train or in a car it's okay, but if you're wondering wether you should buy a 10 inch or a 7 inch I think you should buy the 10 inch.

This chess set is outstanding for the size and price. The amount of detail is fantastic. I bought this for mainly playing along with study books on the sofa and this just adds a bit of class to the whole affair. The board is well finished and the join is almost invisible when laid down flat. The pieces and are also well finished with a lovely subtle shine to them which shows the grain nicely. All this on a 7" board!
