Alice in Wonderland figurative chessmen from Studio Anne Carlton. The set is based on characters by Lewis Carroll in his two famous fables, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Depicted characters include Alice, The King, Hatta, Tweedle Dum, Tweedle Dee and the White Rabbit. The set is constructed from crushed stone and carefully hand painted in opposing red and blue colours. The level of detail is undoubtedly impressive with each figure really capturing the essence of the character.
The set is presented in a Lavishly coloured gift box and includes a beautifully illustrated cardboard folding chess board.

I bought this chess set recently and was surprised at just how the quality is so good. Each piece has been painstakingly painted. It would take me hours to paint one this well and I have 32 beautiful pieces in the set. The meat in the meal is without doubt the chess pieces. The board is beautiful too but it's clear that the pieces are going to last a lifetime whereas the board might get tatty after a few years of use. A really lovely Alice chess set. I keep display the pieces in rows on my mantle piece and have stored the board. It would be five stars if the board was wooden, but I'm being super fussy. James
