The Ambassador series chessmen are a unique take on the classic Staunton design. The most striking aspect is of course the king who seems to have two crowns, one seemingly inserted into the other. Because the King is the main focus of this set each one comes supplied with two finials (the small cross insert that fits in the top) so you can change the appearance of the king as you see fit (see both types in the photograph).
The bridled knight is another very unique piece, it features highly detailed carving and almost cartoon like features. It has a great expression, almost with a slightly friendly demeanour. The set has been has been expertly carved from graded boxwood and red sandalwood, is triple weighted and features a 4.4 inch king height. Like all Regency Chess Company luxury sets there has been no compromise in the standard of quality and finish. The uniformity of the carvings and wood tones is fantastic, of course the red sandalwood gives a stunning rich tone that no other wood can come close to. These fine chessmen will sit perfectly on any of our 23 inch boards. A total of four queens are included as is a genuine certificate of authenticity.
