The Battle of Waterloo was fought on Sunday 18 June 1815 near the village of
Waterloo in Belgium. An Imperial French army under the command of Emperor
Napoleon was defeated by combined armies of the Seventh Coalition, an
Anglo-Allied army under the command of the Duke of Wellington combined with
a Prussian army under the command of Gebhard von Blücher. It was the
culminating battle of the Waterloo Campaign and Napoleon's last. This superb
chess set brings history to life with beautifully formed and hand painted
chessmen and a suitable sized board. The chessmen are superb depictions of
key characters from the battle including The Duke of Wellington, Marshal
Blucher and the Prince of Orange and of course Napoleon.
This fine hand painted chess set includes an 11 inch board and is another great example from Studio Anne
Carlton. The quality and finish of the pieces is what you would expect
from this established brand of chess set manufacturer. Superb value for
money and great quality.
