A chess piece and board combination that is large and impressive in every way. The Briarwood Burl veneer board at almost 24 inches in width looks magnificent to say the least. Hand made in Italy, the quality of lacquering is the best we have ever seen. Underneath the board the lacquered veneer is mounted with felt pads to provide both protection to the board and other surfaces. To complete the set, we have added our beautiful large 4.5 inch Canterbury knight chessmen in Ebony, which are equally impressive, creating a large chess combination that is substantial in size and sublime in quality.
The Canterbury pieces are made by hand and the detailing of the knights are individually hand carved. All the pieces have been expertly finished and polished and are incredibly heavy and satisfying in the hand.
