The Down Head series are the Regency Chess entry level wooden Staunton chess pieces. These lovely chess pieces are single weighted and generously felted on their bases to ensure the wood remains protected. They are all 'one piece' carvings using a design that is not only great to look at but equally practical to play chess with.
These Downhead Series Chessmen have been fashioned from ebonised boxwood and boxwood, and truly represent superb value for money. They are crafted and finished in the same factory as some of the worlds finest chess men, with the very same craftsmen carving these that create our luxury chess pieces. Regency Chess Boards of 13 to 15 inch (35 - 40 cm) best accommodate these chess pieces.
