Lord of the Rings Painted Figurative Chess Pieces 4.5 Inches

Lord of the Rings figurative chessmen from Studio Anne Carlton. The set is based on the specific characters from The Fellowship of the Ring feature film. Each side represents itself with individual characters. The Good white characters include Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn, Gimli, Frodo and Samwise. The Evil black characters include Saruman, Ringwraiths, Lurtz and a variety of Orcs. The set is constructed from crushed stone and meticulously painted by hand.
With a king's base diameter of 1.5 inches these pieces could be combined with an 18-19 inch board. However, due to their height we suggest a 21 inch board to retain good proportions.

I bought these chess pieces as part of the set with the wenge chess board. I have to say I was extremely impressed. At nearly two hundred pounds for the pieces alone they are not cheap. But in my opinion they are well worth the money. Each piece is so faithful to the character in the film, the faced look just like the actors who play the characters. The painting is also excellent, I would have the painted version over and above the non painted version any day of the week. An amazing chess set that will sit proudly among my collection of Lord of The Rings merchandise.
