Choosing Themed Chess Pieces for the Regency Collection is never an easy task because there are so many out there, from intergalactic robots to medieval warriors. To make this process easier we work exclusively with just a number of respected suppliers, including the National Musuems Scotland, Studio Anne Carlton and Italfama.
Isle of Lewis
Our partners at National Musuems Scotland provide us with the only Official Isle of Lewis Chessmen in the world. Made from laser-accurate measurements of the original pieces, these chessmen are one of the most popular products in the Regency Collection. Every piece is made from a high quality poly resin that makes these excellent replicas suitable for playing as well as for show. Similarly durable are the Official H.M The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Chess Pieces, which are supplied by Studio Anne Carlton. Created to commemorate 60 years since Queen Elizabeth II took to the throne in 1952, these pieces are a rare collectible that are likely to increase in value as time goes by.
Each individual piece, including the Round Tower of Windsor Castle, is hand painted by expert detailers in the U.K. The same can be said for the larger one-off pieces depicting Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip. Another version of Britain’s ruling monarchs is also available in a commemorative box that perfectly captures the anniverseral spirit of the Diamond Jubilee. As of now the Jubilee Pieces are available for an extraordinary discount.
SAC & Italfama
Studio Anne Carlton also supplies us with the Robin Hood Chess Pieces, which are painstakingly hand painted in predominantly Green and Red. Here the evil Sherriff of Nottingham and Prioress of Kirklees take on Robin Hood and the beautiful Maid Marion. Reassuringly, Friar Tuck and Little John are also on hand to help our benevolent hero. Decidedly more extravagant in their nature were the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, of whom the master craftsmen of Italfama have made amazing metal chessmen Set in brass and nickel, the Egyptian Series is made up of weighted, tall chessmen that, like all of our themed pieces, make eye-catching ornaments as well as great chess pieces.
