These Classic Staunton Chess Pieces offer excellent quality and yet still represent superb value for money. The quality of finish and attention to detail on these solid wooden chessmen is far beyond what you expect from such a modestly priced set.

As you would expect, each chess piece has been expertly turned from solid boxwood with the black pieces undergoing ’ebonisation’ - a very convincing process that gives them the look of real ebony without its price tag. Each piece is then weighted and felted on the base. The 3.5 inch king height and their colouring makes them perfect for this stunningly unique chess board.

Beautifully crafted by esteemed chess board maker, Rechapados Ferrer S.A. of Spain, a natural 'tiger stripe' ebony and maple veneered construction is used for the playing surface with wenge wood veneer used on the board's base. Modern fabrication techniques are used, resulting in a chess board with clean, precise lines and very critical detailing. Natural, untreated ebony has a rich, contrasting dark grain which is simply stunning and well suited to modern interior designs. A perfect combination of board and chess men.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
