This is a chess set combination that is large with classic Staunton styling, yet contemporary and lustrous. The high gloss black anegre and maple chess board at almost 24 inches (60 cm) in width looks minimal, yet elegant. The chessmen that are included with this set are beautifully traditional but complement the modern board superbly.

The Eminence Series is one of our finest ranges in the Regency Collection. The king stands at four and a half inches in height and has sweeping shanks. With detailed hand carved knights and seductively finished pawns with perfectly spherical ball tops, each piece is balanced and weighted to feel substantial in the hand but not overly heavy. They are hand crafted from solid red padouk and boxwood and have been hand polished to a high sheen without being garish.

The rosewood colouring looks fantastic when placed on this black board; the contrast is perfect for piece recognition and the reflection in the lacquer adds to the opulence of this luxury chess set which includes two additional queens for promotion.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
