We are delighted to now have a larger version of the Fierce Knight chess pieces. With their 4 inch king, these ebonised boxwood pieces are a welcome addition to this particular size range of chess pieces. Each piece starts its life as a solid piece of wood that is expertly turned and skillfully hand crafted. To create the black pieces, a set in natural boxwood go through a treatment procedure called ebonisation. It's a long and painstaking process but the results are certainly worth the wait to create the appearance of ebony, without its price tag and it also further protects the wood.

Because of the quality of finish and weight of the Fierce Knight Chessmen, we expect this version to become one of the best sellers on the Regency Chess website. They have a solid feel in the hand and with their height and detail, look very regal and elegant. They are most pleasing to the eye, nicely weighted and naturally polished with plush flocked bases in green. This set also boasts two additional queens for promotion. This is still relatively unusual but a huge bonus in sets in this price bracket.

The Fierce Knight Chess Men are great for home and tournament use and look fantastic on this 21.7 inch (55 cm) black lithograph and light maple chess board. Produced by quality artisans Rechapados Ferrer S.A. of Spain, they have used a high grade veneer construction using state-of-the-art fabrication techniques which results in the board having clean lines and critical detailing. The solid maple veneer combined with modern printing techniques has produced a board with the darkest black squares, which in turn creates a spectacular contrast. This contemporary board is simplistically seductive and a beautifully veneered grey wood base adds the finishing touch.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
