Product Description

  • Large, quality pieces.
  • Crafted from acacia.
  • Weighted and felted.
  • 4 inch (102 mm) king.
  • Two additional queens.
  • Ideal for a 20 inch (54 cm) board or larger.

The Leningrad series comprises sets of quality large chessmen available in ebonised boxwood, acacia and anjan. The dark pieces in this set are crafted from acacia, a beautiful grained wood that is slightly lighter than Golden rosewood (sheesham).

The Leningrad Series Chessmen have become one of the best sellers on the Regency Chess website due to their quality of finish and weight. ‘The solid feel in hand’ is, in fact, a compliment we hear regularly from customers.

Not only that, the carving on the Leningrad chessmen is slightly more ornate, especially on the knights. With their height and detail, all the pieces look regal and elegant. These large pieces are nicely weighted and naturally polished with plush flocked bases in green. They are great for home and tournament use and would be suitable for pairing with boards of 20 inches (54 cm) or more.

This set of chess men includes 4 queens

Product Reviews

"Excellent quality chess pieces. The knights are carved exquisitely. Good weight to each piece and the packaging was secure. Very happy."

M Williams, 30th August 2021

"Well, what can i say? Gorgeous series! All the pieces have a superior quality, feel quite heavy on the board and the colors just match perfectly. The knight is absolutely awesome with all those crafted details. The pawns are as expected, eastern styled and proportional to the rest of the pieces."

C , 10th March 2020

"The pieces are absolutely beautiful, specially the Knights and the Rooks. The detail is incredible as well as the overall quality. Pawns' height is proportional to the rest of the set. All pieces are quite heavy and remain stable on the chess board. The two additional Queens are great. Last but not least, all the pieces arrived exceptionally packaged. Thank you! :) J Fernandes, Lisbon"

"Beautiful design. Dark pieces could be more like in color."

T Thordarson (toti), 2nd February 2018

"Beautiful beautiful Russian style chessmen with uniquely curved knights and firm rooks and finely shaped bishops/queens/kings. The only thing I wish that were different in design was the size of the pawns in rather slightly, but noticeably, larger proportion to the rest of the pieces but this is how most of the Eastern European chessmen are designed for so I accept gladly.."
