Crafted from graded ebony and boxwood, the supreme series is yet another beautiful interpretation of the classic Staunton design. There is nothing about the design of these pieces that breaks the mould, or is overly distinctive. The reason for this is simple; the lines and proportions are perfect. It represents the archetypal set of traditional chessmen.
Each piece is double weighted and has a felted base. These fine chess men originate from one of the world's most prolific chess designers and we are delighted to be able to offer the genuine article supplied by the originator himself. "I also own the Atlantic 3.75" rosewood set and these pieces are the same high quality. Each piece is flawless, yet they have real character and a very handmade feel. Judging by the names, I assume the 'Atlantic' set is supposed to have an American feel, and this set a more English feel. This definitely comes across. The slightly smaller size and sleeker lines give the supreme set a more elegant character. A bit like a Ford mustang compared to a Triumph spitfire. (Oops, my age is showing.) Service top class and delivery prompt, as always."
