Product Description

  • Superbly ornate.
  • Made in Italy.
  • Beautifully crafted chessmen.
  • 3 inch King.
  • Presented with a 15.75 inch board.
Not based on any era or characters in particular, these stone crushed resin chess men are a more literateral representation of each chess piece, presented in a unique, medieval ‘bust’ style.

Typically portrayed with their focused stare, long beards and heavy metal crown, the kings are very imposing, a force to be reckoned with. Their queens too are very regal with a more feminine demeanor. Their delicate crowns adorning long, flowing hair.

Although their miters are more flat, the bishops are traditionally dressed and are easily recognisable. Very ornate horse heads portray the Knights and you can imagine them performing in jousting tournaments. The pawns are brilliantly cast as menacing coats of armour whilst the rooks, as you would expect, are miniature castles.

We have matched these pieces with a beautiful 15.75 inch walnut and maple board from Spain however The Medieval Bust Chess Pieces are also available without a board.

This is beautiful set and conjures images of King Arthur and romantic tales of Knights and damsels in distress.

Please note that as these pieces are hand painted, there may be some inconsistencies in the level of detail and colour and therefore your pieces may be very slightly different from the images shown. Any inconsistencies however are minimal.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
