The broadcasting date for the much anticipated upcoming TV series Chess Masters: The Endgame has finally been revealed. The show is set to begin with episode 1 airing on Monday 10th March at 8:00 pm GMT on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two.
Sue Perkins is hosting this contestant series, which will follow twelve rising chess players from the UK’s growing chess community. There are a total of 8 episodes planned for season 1, where players from a range of different backgrounds will compete on the board with a number of brainteasing puzzles and intense eliminators to crown one player the Chess Champion.
Along for the ride is UK Grandmaster and three-time British champion David Howell, who will be providing expert commentary alongside chess coach and former Traitors contestant Anthony Mathurin.
After the huge success that was The Queen’s Gambit, this will no doubt draw in those who enjoyed watching Beth Harmon (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) take on the world of chess in an intense series of competitions that saw her rise to stardom.
This will be a fantastic opportunity for chess enthusiasts to watch and play along at home, trying their hand at the puzzles throughout the series to see if they have what it takes to become a chess master themselves!
If you’re looking to get stuck-in, we have a range of traditional Staunton chess sets ready to go in time for the first upcoming episode and beyond.
