The Blackmore series chessmen are a unique and modern take on the classic Staunton design. The deep recess in the base is one of the many distinctive design elements that set these chessmen apart. The tapered shanks lack the classic curves usually seen on a Staunton chess set. The pieces have been perfectly balanced, with just the correct amount of weight in each base to give them the perfect feel.

These beautiful chessmen have been expertly carved from solid sheesham wood and boxwood. Sheesham is a rich exotic wood with deep grains and a lovely golden colour. It's dense and hard and allows for the carvings of these chessmen to retain extremely fine detail and smoothness. Boxwood needs no introduction for its premium quality and hardness. The boxwod used in these chessmen has been carefully selected for clean and crisp grains and pale colour. The carving of the knights is uniform and has been done to an extremely high standard. Their teeth are very prominent indeed, resulting in an very eccentric appearance!

A very high quality set of chessmen from the Regency Chess Company with a unique take on the classic Staunton design. Each piece has a felted base and the set is ideal for a 23 inch chess board.
