Please note that when the chessmen are placed in the box it is normal and intentional for them to lay down on top of each other. They are NOT intended to stand up inside the box.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.

"This set is just that bit more interesting than the more conventional Staunton sets. Maybe the knight's ears and the petalled castellations on the rooks are a little more vulnerable but anyone owning this set is bound to look after the pieces with great care. It is truly a beautiful set of pieces and very well finished. The sheesham wood box is a real bonus - very lovely in its own right. I like the magnetic catches but when empty it can be awkward to grip the box to open it. A high quality board to match the other items."
