How big is this?

These pieces are renowned the world over for being a precise reproduction of the original Isle of Lewis chessmen. Superbly made in Britain, these quality chess men are produced from laser scans of the original pieces that are stored and cared for by the National Museum of Scotland. These chess pieces have become an iconic legend and remain one of the most famous and original designs of chess pieces.

The imposing 23.6 inch Montgoy Palisander board with its beautifully dark hued and grained veneers and large playing squares makes it a perfect arena for these chess men and, overall, creates a very enviable chess set that if you are buying this as a gift, you are more likely to keep it for yourself.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
