Expertly hand crafted from natural and ebonized boxwood, the Sovereign chess men are one of the most beautiful and elegant chess sets we have here at The Regency Chess Company. Based on the classic Staunton design, the king has a height of 3 inches and although seemingly small for a luxury set of pieces, nothing in the detail and carving is lost. With the correct broadness of the bases and weights, these pieces are quite simply perfect!

They are ideally suited to a 20 inch board, although, if space is at a premium, at a push they will sit on an 18 inch board. We have matched the Sovereign Chessmen with this high quality 19.7 inch Black Anegre and Palisander board from Spain.

Constructed from real wood veneers of graded black anegre, maple and palisander, this beautiful chess board has a high gloss finish and gives any chess set an air of opulence and luxury.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
